Practices run on weeknights, separate from Saturday games. Most teams practice twice a week for one hour, organized by division and coaching staff.

Practice nights are the usual weeknight pattern, but the Summer 2027 gyms and per-team slots are not booked yet. They're posted here once the season is scheduled and rosters are set.

Divisions

Four co-ed divisions

Divisions are based on your child's grade for the 2026–27 school year.

Grade K

Youngsters

Lowered hoop · 1 practice + 1 game per week

1st–2nd grade

Future Stars

Regulation 10-ft hoop

3rd–5th grade

Rising Stars

Regulation 10-ft hoop

6th–8th grade

All-Stars

Regulation 10-ft hoop

Only the Youngsters Division uses a lowered hoop. All others play on a regulation 10-foot basket. Parents may request for their child to play up a division, subject to staff review.

Cost & pricing

Simple membership, no entrance fee

Summer 2027 rates are still being set. Every Jr Hoops season charges one membership, with no entrance fee to watch your child play.

Financial aid and scholarships

We believe every player deserves the opportunity to learn, play, and grow through basketball. We offer financial aid and scholarship opportunities for qualifying families, and flexible payment installment plans are also available. Learn more and apply at jrhoops.org/financial-aid.

Common questions

When does Summer 2027 registration open?

It has not been announced yet. Dates and pricing are sent to our email list first, so subscribe above and you will hear as soon as they are set.

How much will Summer 2027 cost?

Rates are still being set. We publish the full membership price, add-ons, and any discount window on this page before registration opens.

Which season can I sign up for right now?

Fall 2026 registration is open, and Winter 2027 opens October 1. Both are linked from the Leagues menu.

Are the evaluations a tryout?

No, everyone is placed on a team. Evaluations are only used to keep the league balanced.

Can my child be placed on the same team as friends?

You can request it. We cannot guarantee it because we evaluate every player to keep teams balanced.

What if my child makes the LA Select team at the upcoming tryouts?

If it happens before the Jr Hoops season starts, we offer a full refund and transfer your account to LA Select.
